The worst time to choose a boiler is the day it quits

Why there is no price on this page
Because there is no single boiler price that would be true. A combi in a townhouse and a system boiler feeding in-floor radiant in a two-storey are different jobs, with different venting, different gas capacity and different hot water demand. Quoting a number before anyone has seen your house would be a guess. Your price is set at the assessment, in writing, before anything is ordered — and the assessment is free whether you go ahead or not. Boiler replacement options for Calgary homes
Combi boiler (combination)
A combi boiler supplies both space heating and domestic hot water from a single unit, with no separate hot water tank. It suits homes with limited mechanical room space, or anyone wanting to simplify what is down there.

- Compact footprint, good for condos and townhomes
- Hot water on demand, with no standby heat loss
- Modern condensing units run at high efficiency
Trade-off: heavy simultaneous hot water demand can cause heating lag. Best suited to one or two bathrooms and smaller households.
System boiler (separate tank)
A system boiler heats only the distribution — radiators, baseboard or in-floor — and works alongside a separate hot water cylinder. Better for homes with high hot water demand or a complex distribution system.

What does a new boiler cost?
We do not publish one, because any number we printed would be wrong for most houses. There is a fuller answer in why there is no price on this page above. What you get instead: a free in-home assessment, a written price before anything is ordered, and a number that only changes if you approve a change in writing. Finding out costs you nothing.
How long will I be without heat?
A standard replacement, swapping the existing unit for the same type, typically takes one full day. A combi conversion, which adds or removes a hot water tank, or a change in capacity may take two. Because a planned replacement is scheduled rather than an emergency, you choose the day — which is the main argument for doing this before the boiler makes the decision for you. We give you the full scope before starting so nothing on install day is a surprise.
Can I pay for it over time?
Yes. There are two payment partners to choose from, with no upfront costs, flexible monthly payments, fast pre-approval and no pre-payment penalties. Should I repair it instead of replacing it?
Sometimes, yes. If the boiler is relatively young and this is its first real fault, a repair usually makes more sense than a replacement. If it is old, has failed more than once in recent winters, and the repair quote is a large fraction of a new system, replacement is normally the better place to put the money. Combi or system boiler for my house?
Combi boilers work well for homes with one or two bathrooms and moderate hot water demand, and they suit Calgary condos and townhomes where mechanical room space is tight. For larger families, or homes where several showers run at once, a system boiler with a separate hot water cylinder usually performs better. The heat-loss calculation and your hot water demand settle it, not a preference.
How disruptive is the work?
The work happens in your mechanical room. Our technicians protect the path in, keep the workspace clean, and take the old unit away when they go. Conduct on site is covered by one of the written AIC guarantees, so it is not just a promise made at the door — you can read the terms first.
Are there rebates for a high-efficiency boiler in Alberta?
Alberta and some utility providers run efficiency rebate programs for high-efficiency heating equipment. Eligibility rules and program funding change, so rather than quote a program that may have closed, we check what is actually open at the time of your assessment and tell you what you qualify for.

How a boiler heats your home
A boiler heats water rather than air. When you call for heat, a valve opens to let gas into a sealed combustion chamber, an electric ignition lights it, and the burner heats a heat exchanger carrying water from your system. That heated water circulates through radiators, baseboard or in-floor loops, and the room warms by radiant heat rather than by blown air.
Today’s boilers run on gas, oil or electricity. The distinctions that matter when you replace one are condensing versus non-condensing, sealed versus non-sealed combustion, the capacity your house needs, and the efficiency rating of the unit. In Calgary’s climate, the sizing and the venting matter as much as the badge on the front.
Boiler or furnace, which is better?
Furnaces move heat through ducts and push warm air into rooms through vents. They are common in newer homes, while boilers are more often found in older ones. A furnace blows conditioned air, which some people find drafty. Radiant heat from a boiler is quiet and steady, holding a more even temperature across the room. A boiler costs more up front than a furnace. Whether the comfort is worth the difference depends on your house and your budget. Both need annual maintenance to keep manufacturer warranties valid.
