Start with the problem you're solving

Some heating calls can't wait for morning. Some are warnings worth catching before the next cold snap. Some are upgrades you want sized and priced right the first time.

Calgary-ready heating

Calgary homes have Calgary heating problems

  • Deep-freeze stretches work equipment to its limit, then Chinooks swing the temperature forty degrees and stress it all over again.
  • Furnaces installed in the 2000s building boom are aging out together.
  • Any gas appliance deserves a working carbon monoxide detector nearby.
  • Knowing what's in your mechanical room — and how old it is — is half the plan.

Watch out for

Problems to watch out for

Heating equipment usually warns you before it quits. Worth booking service if you notice any of these:

  • Short cycling — the furnace starts and stops more than it used to
  • Rooms that never quite warm up, or big swings between floors
  • New rattles, grinding, booming, or whistling on startup
  • Yellow or flickering burner flame instead of steady blue
  • Heating bills climbing with no change in the weather or your habits
  • A carbon monoxide alarm that chirps or trips — leave and call immediately

Good to know

Frequently asked heating questions

How often should I maintain my furnace?
Once a year, ideally in early fall. Annual maintenance catches ignition, airflow, and safety issues early, keeps efficiency up, and protects most manufacturer warranties.
What can go wrong with a furnace?
Common failures include ignition and flame-sensor problems, worn blower motors, cracked heat exchangers, clogged filters starving airflow, and thermostat faults. Most start as small symptoms — short cycling, noise, uneven heat — before becoming no-heat calls.
Should I repair or replace my furnace?
Most furnaces last 15–20 years. Past 15 years, a major repair usually isn't worth it compared to the reliability and efficiency of replacement. We price both honestly so you can decide.
What should I do if I smell gas?
Leave the house right away, don't switch anything on or off, and call from outside. Gas leaks are a 24/7 emergency — we dispatch licensed gasfitters for leak detection and repair.
